Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc

Vineyard Review

The grapes for this wine were sourced from the Raupara region in Marlborough, a region renowned for producing great New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyard is three and four cane pruned on river valley soils, with a central aspect. In the vineyard we run a tall canopy, ensuring a high leaf to fruit ratio, increasing the berries thiol development. The fruit ripens under an umbrella of leaves to retain this grape variety’s herbaceous character.

Winemaking

Machine harvested in the cool of the morning, the fruit is immediately processed at the winery where the juice is floated and inoculated. We treated each parcel, three picks from the same vineyard, with a different ferment regime to enhance the different flavour profiles of each parcel. The wine was then left post ferment on lees to increase mouthfeel and complexity. The parcels were then blended together and the wine stabilised, filtered and bottled.
